Among Us VR New Gameplay Trailer

At the beginning of the Among Us VR trailer, a group of Crewmates ran around the Cafeteria section of The Skeld map, the first and most popular map in the original Among Us. The Crewmates then gathered around the Emergency Meeting button in the center of the room and pointed fingers at each other, accusing of being an Impostor. The majority of the Crewmates believed that the Impostor was Yellow and voted them out of the game.

More rooms were shown throughout the Among Us VR trailer as Crewmates passes each other while also trying to maintain a distance between each other in case those around them turned out to be Impostors. The trailer went on to show the perspective of multiple Crewmates throughout the match.

At the end of the trailer, more areas that players will be able to go to in Among Us VR were quickly shown before Blue walked over to the Emergency Meeting button and pressed it. Among Us VR‘s logo then appeared with text reading “Wishlist on the Meta Store!” appearing at the bottom of the screen. It has also been revealed that Among Us VR will allow between 4 and 10 players to be in a match together, while the original game could be played with 15 people.

Most recently,Among Us has collaborated with scream  Halo, and Ratchet and Clank to add skins of Ghostface, Master Chief, and Ratchet, as well as Clank and Guilty Spark pets. The new trailer for Among Us’ VR mode perfectly encapsulates the game’s combination of hilarity and horror, as well as highlighting its key feature.

Among Us VR gameplay differs dramatically from the original game due to the player’s perspective, and that needs to be accounted for.

Highly detailed recreations of the original Among Us maps for VR sounds highly immersive, but the change in formats comes with drawbacks too. Among Us is far from a first-person game; the massive change in perspective could have serious consequences for Crewmates who are trying to keep an eye out for potential Impostors around them. In order to make sure that Impostors don’t have a permanent leg up due to Among Us VR‘s change in perspective, Innersloth and Schell may have to tweak Among Us information systems for fairness’ sake.

In normal Among Us games, players play from a top-down perspective. Thanks to this, players can see much of the world around them; even when they’re completing a task, Crewmates can an eye out for potential approaching Impostors or any murders happening nearby. In Among Us VR, however, players will naturally only see what’s directly in front of them. That’s a major change. It’ll probably be nearly impossible for Crewmates to check their surroundings while completing tasks, meaning Impostors have far more liberty to sneak up on unsuspecting Crewmates or to escape through a vent when nobody’s looking.

Impostors will certainly have risks to face too, since they’ll have to check surroundings more carefully before killing a Crewmate, but overall, Crewmates seem to have the disadvantage.

In the end, Among Us VR could turn out to be a very different style of game from the Among Us that fans currently know and love. That wouldn’t be such a bad thing, though. New features and mechanics that make good use of the change in format will make Among Us VR feel more unique, which could generate more interest in the VR version long-term.
