Main Terms of The Game

  • Impostors: This refers to the amount of Impostors in play. The limit refers to the lowest number of Impostors allowed (if your lobby isn’t full, the game can decide to have fewer Impostors).
  • Crewpostor: A term for An Impostor experiencing a bug in which they have the abilities of a Crewmate. Sometimes used to refer to An Impostor playing as though they are a Crewmate, or vice versa.
  • 2nd/3rd/4th Impostor: A term for a Crewmate who is supporting Impostors, either knowingly or unknowingly. This term is used in games with 1, 2, and 3 Impostors respectively.
  • Double/Triple kill: A term for when 2 and 3 Crewmates, respectively, are killed in the same place at the same time by a group of Impostors.
  • 50/50 :A situation in which two players have been accused of being an Impostor and the remaining Crewmates are unsure who to vote for due to insufficient evidence. To resolve this situation, one player is systematically ejected, and the other player is ejected during the next emergency meeting . When used correctly, this strategy can ensure that at least one Impostor has been ejected.
  • Confirm Ejects: With this on, it will tell you if the person you just ejected was an Impostor or not. With it off, it won’t.
  • Emergency Meetings: This is the amount of emergency meetings a player can call from the center of the map.
  • Emergency Cooldown: This is the amount of time you need to wait in between emergency meetings. When playing online, having a long cool down stops it being abused.
  • Discussions are a way for players to deduce who the impostors might be and discuss tactics, and for an impostor lying low so as to not draw attention to themselves can be a good way to hide in plain sight.
  • Discussion Time: How long in seconds you can discuss Impostors in meetings before you vote.
  • Voting Time: How long in seconds you have to vote. Discussions can continue during this time. Shorter time limits make the game more intense, longer limits make them more methodical.
  • Player Speed: How fast the players move around the ship.
  • Crewmate Vision: How far the crewmates can see around the ship.
  • Impostor Vision: How far the Impostor can see around the ship. Impostors typically get better vision to make their job easier.
  • Kill Cooldown: How long the Impostor must wait in between kills. The more Impostors, the longer it should be.
  • CD:An abbreviation for ‘cooldown’, especially an Impostor’s kill cooldown.
  • Kill Distance: How close (short, normal, or long) the Impostor must be to kill someone.
  • Visual Tasks: A few tasks, such as scanning in the MedBay, are visual, as in other players can see you. If you are seen doing a visual task, that’s proof that you’re not the Impostor.
  • Common Tasks: These are the most basic tasks in the game, and take an average time to complete.
  • Long Tasks: These tasks take the longest as the name implies and involve visiting multiple rooms to complete them.
  • Short Tasks: These tasks are very short and can be completed quickly, in a single location
  • Buddy system: A strategy that involves everyone being in a pair or group. The aim is so that there are always witnesses to kills. lest the dead player’s buddy is likely An Impostor. Some people consider this unfair, especially early in the game.
  • Sus: A slang term which, as an adjective, is short for “suspicious”. Can also be used as a verb or noun, and typically refers to the verb and noun form of ‘suspect’ respectively.
  • Vote out/off: A term used in place of ‘eject’
  • Y-hall: A term for the hallway on MIRA HQ map, containing Doorlog sensors.
  • Discord cheater A slang term for a living player that uses external programs, usually but not always Discord, to communicate with ghosts, or vice versa. This behavior is frowned upon and is against the Innersloth Code of Conduct.
